David Walsh is one of the most dominant riders in the history of the Tatts Finke Desert Race.

The Alice Springs local secured his first King of the Desert title in 2019 and went on to win every contested event through to 2025, amassing five consecutive victories (with 2020 not held). This achievement equals Randall Gregory’s record and places Walsh second on the all-time winners list, behind only Toby Price.

Renowned for his consistency and composure in the harshest conditions, Walsh’s record extends beyond his wins. He has also claimed four additional podium finishes across his career (2012, 2014, 2016, 2018), reinforcing his status as one of the sport’s most reliable and formidable competitors.

Heading into 2026, Walsh returns with a clear objective — to secure a sixth Finke crown and further cement his legacy.
