Sam Pretscherer to Make Factory Honda ProMX Debut at Traralgon
Fresh from his class victory and outright second-place finish at the Hattah Desert Race, Sam Pretscherer will line up this weekend at Round 6 of the Australian ProMX Championship in Traralgon aboard the Peter Kittle Motor Company Honda Racing CRF450R.
After an impressive desert campaign, Pretscherer was eager to continue racing and reached out to Honda Racing Australia Team Director Yarrive Konsky about competing in the national motocross championship.
“I called Yarrive and asked if there was any chance I could race ProMX. I wasn’t sure what he’d say because the team has so much happening both here and in America, but he simply said, ‘Why not?’ I was pumped. The whole Hattah experience was incredible, and hopefully we’re back there next year. To now have the opportunity to race motocross with Factory Honda is really exciting,” said Pretscherer.
Pretscherer has spent much of the season racing in the United States with the highly respected SLR Honda team, owned by seven-time Baja 1000 winner Mark Samuels.

Konsky praised both Samuels and the relationship between the two programs.
“Mark is a fantastic person and someone I’ve grown to really respect over the past few seasons. He’s built one of the premier off-road racing programs in America and has created opportunities for so many riders while also being a tremendous advocate for women in motorsport. We’re already talking about collaborating more in the future, including the possibility of a Baja program together, which would be something really special,” said Konsky.
Although now recognised as one of Australia’s leading desert racers, motocross remains Pretscherer’s foundation.
“Motocross is where it all started for me and it’s still what I ride most days. The concrete start pads will be something different, but I’m excited to see where I measure up against Australia’s best. There are no unrealistic expectations—my goal is to finish inside the top ten. I’m a racer, so of course I want to be competitive, and I’m looking forward to getting behind the gate.”
Pretscherer will compete under the Peter Kittle Motor Company Honda Racing banner as Honda Racing Australia continues to expand its commitment across both motocross and off-road competition.
Be sure to stop by theHonda Racing truck throughout the weekend and meet Sam and the team at Traralgon.
